Hong Kong has a population of 7 million, of whom 95% are ethnic Chinese. Mandarin and Cantonese are the two official languages, but English is widely spoken throughout the territory and is also used in Government departments and in business

Temperatures range from 18 - 28 degrees C. A light jacket is needed in the evening

Currency:

Most foreign currencies and travellers' cheques are easily exchanged at banks, hotels and money-changers in Hong Kong. A passport is required for money exchange services.

Visas and Passports:

A passport or internationally recognized travel document which should be valid for at least 6 months is required to enter Hong Kong. Australian passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival. If in doubt, travellers should consult their their local Chinese Consulate of Embassy for entry requirements to Hong Kong and to other Asian destinations.
