Revised Draft of CPD Program for Further Consultation

 

1.        A single scheme of minimum 135 points per 3-year cycle.

2.        It includes 90 points from CME & 45 points from other activities.

3.        The CME part is as before, but anything related to QA will be taken out.

4.        The other portion can be a combination of the followings:

a.  QA activities                 maximum 40 points per three years

b.  Clinical Audit                 maximum 30 points per three years

c.  Peer Review                 maximum 30 points per three years

d.  Teaching & Research                 maximum 30 points per three years

e.  New Skills / Techniques                  maximum 30 points per three years

f.   Medical Rounds                 maximum 30 points per three years

 

5.        QA Activities

n      to participate on personal basis

n      include participation, administration & reporting

n      1 point per 1 hour of activity

n      participation in one session of College program includes sending in answers & reading of reports (number of points to be proposed by organizer and approved by College)

n      can also be stand alone projects preapproved by College

 

6.    Clinical Audit

n      includes auditing clinical outcome of other units or auditing of pathological reports

n      1 point per 1 hour of activity

n      include interhospital review of slides, smears & numerical results, etc

n      can also be stand alone program preapproved by College

 

7.    Peer Review

n      actual clinical practice to be observed by reviewer

n      2 points for acting as reviewer per hour, including writing up of report

n      College to design standard report format & protocol

n      1 point for under observation for 1 hour including writing up of improvement plan

 

8.    Teaching & Research

n      can be claimed by teachers in Universities also

n      for teaching pathology to graduates, undergraduates & other professionals

n      1 point per 1 hour of activity

n      research cannot double score if publication gets score in CME

 

9.    New Skills / Techniques

n         use a broad meaning for skills relevant to professional practice, so that skills like IT, management, etc should be included

n         can include participation in workshops & attachments to other departments

n         1 point per 1 hour of activity

 

10.    Medical Rounds

n         include grand rounds, clinicopathological conferences & slide seminars, etc

n         1 point per 1 hour of activity
